Mozambique
Travel tips for Mozambique
Top 5 Experiences
The country, which is still relatively unknown, exudes a real magic and offers great diversity. Among the highlights are:

Landscape
From the green savannah to the blue ocean, the diverse landscape fascinates with white beaches, luminous coral reefs, large palm forests and evergreen mango trees.

Ocean Safari
Mozambique is a true snorkelling and diving paradise, because the real safari takes place under water here. In the fascinating underwater world you can meet dolphins, whale sharks, manta rays and humpback whales, among others.

Safari
Gorongosa National Park – a real insider tip and home to the „Big Five“. The varied landscape is characterized by savannah with swamps and rivers. On a game drive or on a walking safari stalk one can see impalas, nyalas, zebras, elephants, buffaloes, hippos and lions.

Everyday Life
Sustainability and involvement of the local community are part of everyday life. An insight into the life of the locals is possible through countless projects as well as village visits.

Island World
The Bazaruto and Quirimbas archipelago in the turquoise-green Indian Ocean captivate with lonely, white sandy beaches and shady palm trees. Apart from the intact underwater world, relaxation is the main attraction here.
Tourist infrastructure
The airport in Maputo is the starting and end point of all connections, whereas Mozambique can only be reached from Europe with a stopover. In the coastal region, one finds a relatively well-developed road network, which is to be expanded in the future. An exploration of the country is possible both guided and by rental car.
Due to the great tourist potential of the country, there is a wide range of accommodation, ranging from simple to comfortable and luxury.
Climate and travel season
Mozambique can be divided into three climatic areas: the north, the south and the interior.
In the north, the temperature is relatively constant and warm all year round (an average of 32°C during the day in summer and 29°C the rest of the year). Since it also remains pleasantly mild at night (20°C to 24°C) and it is usually very dry, the region can be visited all year round.
The south offers moderate temperatures of 30°C on average, in winter approx. 25°C are measured. Since rain is to be expected in summer every now and then, the best time to travel is in the Mozambican winter.
The inland is the warmest part of the country, temperatures rise to about 37°C in the summer months, even in winter the thermometer drops only to 28°C. The optimal travel time for this region is the dry winter.
Visa and entry
German, Austrian and Swiss citizens need a passport valid for at least six months at the time of entry. For entry into Mozambique for purposes of visit, tourism, and business, with a duration of up to 30 days, German nationals no longer require a visa as of May 1, 2023.
